After one Texas woman left her office party and headed to the car, she suddenly found herself in the midst of a terrifying, real-life nightmare.
As the woman approached her vehicle in downtown Dallas, she quickly realized that she was not alone. There, waiting by her car, was a stranger with a gun and a butcher knife - preparing to abduct her. After being hit over the head with the pistol, she was put into the backseat of her own car, while the kidnapper took his place behind the wheel.
Off they drove towards an awful fate that one could only imagine. No sooner after he began driving, the man threw the woman's cell phone out of the car window - leaving her with no contact to the outside world.
While they were stopped at a red light, Jamal Harris and Aaron Arias pulled up next to the woman and her kidnapper. As the two Texas teens looked over to admire the girl's beauty, it took only seconds to realize that something very serious was happening before their eyes.
The two young men immediately called 911, as they began to follow the suspicious vehicle.
"It's me and another guy. So, we're checking out the girl in the backseat because we're like, 'Ok, she's kind of attractive,' and then all of a sudden the guy is turned back looking at us."
Jamal went on to share in an interview with ABC News,
"Then, we finally made eye contact and I could see the serious expression on her face, and I could read her lips. She was saying, 'Help me.'"
The 911 operator asked more questions for clarification,
"How did you know she was saying, 'Help me?' You could read her lips?"
That's when Aaron gave more details about the intense situation,
"Yeah, we could read her lips. And then while they're driving off she's just like hittin' the back windshield, and we could see her hand and she looked frantic."
These brave teens continued to follow the kidnapper and his victim, despite the abductor's attempt to lose them. Finally, police officers caught up to the man suspected of kidnapping, and were able to make an arrest and retrieve the distraught woman from the backseat of the car.
"She says we saved her life. I guess you could say we did. But I don't want to be that person who says they're a hero."
The reality is, these humble young men most likely did save a life that fateful day - and prevented what could have been a horrifying tragedy.
The police dash cam captured the chilling moment the car was pulled over:
