Mom's Shamed For Wearing Bikini, Shuts Internet Bullies Down
by ShareTap Staff 3/30/2017
We can all agree that social media is a double-edged sword; one that lets us quickly and easily share our thoughts and pictures, all the while allowing the rest of the world to intrude on these semi-private moments with their own opinions.
Ana Carolina Rojas knows a thing or two about this. A mother of two, Ana has spent a considerable amount of time on social media sites like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram spreading the word about body positivity.
One of her recent posts on Instagram has turned out to be an unintentional yet perfect lesson for her followers in how to deal with people who are too quick to judge in a not so positive way. While Ana was enjoying a perfect weekend by the pool with her family, she decided to share the following picture of herself in a pink and white bikini top.
The caption that went along with it was brief and almost poetic:
"The sun is out. The breeze is soft. The water is cool. The boys are attempting synchronized swimming. Life is so good right now no matter which way you look at it."
Leave it to a stranger to try and ruin the moment though. While most of her followers responded with positive and cheerful comments, one of them whom she calls a "troll" decided to instead respond with a comment that seemed to take a stab at her appearance - saying, "...this is a joke."
But like a champ, Ana not only stopped the "joke" comment from ruining her day, but instead called it out and responded to it with a very positive and happy message, which she reposted on Instagram along with the same picture. We have to admit, it was quite clever, too!
"No, it really is nice and warm enough to have a pool day. Amazing, huh?"
She captioned her second picture with the following inspiring message:
"Take whatever energy is sent to you and turn it into whatever you need. Just because someone insults you doesn't mean you need to feel insulted. Allow that moment to be one for you to exercise your character and see how you can benefit.
They are just words from a person I don't even know or will ever meet. Didn't change my weather or my memories. What you have the power to create is greater than what people have the power to destroy. Destroying is easy and careless. There's no real accomplishment there..."
Ana's second picture seemed to get even more shares on several media outlets, which only made her message that much stronger. After all, we can all get behind her outlook on not letting a tiny fraction of "trolls" in the world ruin the whole lot of good that life brings.
"I have women constantly telling me that because they saw how I was reacting to stuff they then had the courage to wear bikinis and just enjoy their time with their family and friends. The love and strength we have to build each other up is more powerful than the haphazard attempt people make trying to destroy us by playing to what they believe our fears to be."
Here is Ana sharing one of her positive messages on how to face your fears.
Life is too short to dwell on any negativity that comes from strangers, especially on the internet. Ana's message to the world is as simple as it can be! It's a good day when we learn to love and be happy with what we have!
