Chip And Joanna Admit To Big Family Secret, Explain Why They've Kept It Private All This Time

Celebrity children have often become the center of media attention after doing something that usually makes them look like spoiled brats. This is especially true today with how much of a celebrity-driven society we are, and how much we love to gossip!
Chip and Joanna Gaines of the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper have four children - Drake (11), Ella Rose (9), Duke (8), and Emmie Kay (7). On the show, we frequently see them playing on the Gaines Texas farm, or visiting their mom with cupcakes when she is ready to pull a decorating all-nighter.
But since their show took off, so has the curiosity of their fans who want to know more about their personal life. While Chip and Joanna aren't exactly shy about showing their love for each other in playful ways, they have chosen to draw a line when it comes to showing off their children. A big reason for this decision is to keep the children from knowing just how successful their parents have become.
Chip and Joanna's Magnolia empire has expanded way beyond just the HGTV renovation show; books, product endorsements, a restaurant, and a bakery are just some of their other ventures that are bringing in some serious cash. In spite of so much financial success, the Gaines have continued to live a life that is devoid of over the top luxury.
Their children continue to indulge in the small pleasures of life on their country farm. The family does not own a television in their home and the parents claim that the children won't be getting their own phones until they are in college. Joanna has even told sources that the kids don't know that their parents have a successful show and therefore have been pleasantly oblivious to the fame that has spread worldwide. According to Joanna:
"... they don't really understand that we have a show. They don't get it. They're so young and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood."
To aid in this normalcy the couple has also refused to tape shows that take them too far from home and their kids. Filming within 40-miles of home has been the most comfortable way to maintain the work and life balance. When Chip and Joanna are on site, the kids often tag along to help out on the job or to play while the parents work. Even with all the cameras around, they are usually too busy in their own world to know what it all means.
Pictures posted by Joanna on her Instagram feed often shows the parents having the most precious, cuddly, and silly moments with their children. Their life seems surprisingly simple, with lots of personal time with kids, and a 40-acre farm full of about 60 animals.
One of the reasons the audience had loved Fixer Upper more than all the other equally good renovation shows on TV is because the Gaines seem so down to earth and share just enough about their personal lives to let us know that in spite of all the fandom and money, all they care about is each other and their children.
Here are Chip and Joanna sharing a bit more about just how they make it all work with family and fame!
