Tiny Girl Meets Disfigured Veteran, Leaves Him Struggling To Hold Back Tears

Many of us give to charities or volunteer in our free time, but it's rare that we actually get to meet the people these organizations help! Such was the case for five-year-old Temperance Pattinson.
Temperance has been participating in a charity organization to help war veterans since she was just three years old and she never got the opportunity to meet with a real war hero. That was, until now...
In an attempt to raise awareness, the charity, Help for Heroes, connected Temperance with a real-life veteran who directly benefited from her kind actions in an emotional online series called "Facing It Together."
Help for Heros brought Iraqi war veteran Simon Brown to meet with Temperance. He had no idea what to expect from the five-year-old charity worker, but he was excited to share his story and explain why her dedication means so much to him and the thousands of other soldiers in need.
Simon was in his mid-twenties when he was shot by an Iraqi sniper in 2006. The wound left Simon practically blind and unable to provide for himself. After 25 surgeries and countless hours in the operating room, Simon was finally able to return to a somewhat normal life.
In an emotional exchange, Simon shared what happened when he returned to England after his injury.
"When I came home I found out that I'd lost my sight and I had to rebuild my life after being told that I was going to be a blind man and leave the army."
Instead of being shocked by Simon's appearance, Temperance listened intently to his story. It was clear that she understood this was a hero of the war and someone who desperately needed our help.
Without missing a beat, Temperance looked at Simon and shared why she decided to participate in the charity events.
"Even though I didn't know any of the soldiers, I just thought that they did something for us! I thought I could give a present back to them by raising them money."
Temperance didn't do it for the fun competition or recognition – she just wanted to show her support to the heroes who keep her safe! Hopefully Temperance's behavior inspires other young people to volunteer and help veterans!
