Tech gadgets and the internet might have kids today completely clueless about childhood before these modern conveniences, but one thing that even time and technology haven't phased out is the love for a snack we all call PB&J.
The peanut butter and jelly sandwich has been one of the most well-loved and prominent childhood memories for kids growing up in America. It was the food staple that even sustained the most picky eaters among us.
While there is no denying that the PB&J is one food trend that is here to stay forever, there is a new method taking over the internet recently in just how this sandwich is assembled.
There are times when applying the goopy peanut butter can be frustrating. So if you're tired of spreading peanut butter on soft bread to make lunches, then this trick is for you.
According to Bev Weidner of the new show on Food Network called Bev Cooks, the solution to applying the peanut butter without tearing the bread is to create convenient "slices." After all, they make cheese slices, meat slices, so why not peanut butter slices?
In order to make these slices, first you have to put some globs of peanut butter (or "gluggies" as Bev calls them) on a large piece of parchment paper. Then fold the paper over and roll out the globs until they are flattened.
The next step is to freeze the rolled peanut butter so that it can set enough for cutting into bread-sized slices. These peanut butter slices can now be easily stored and placed on the sandwich without ever having to harm the bread, so to speak. Bev refers to this clever trick as a hack, which has stirred up an interesting conversation on the internet.
Many people love this new way of preparing the age old lunch for their kids, but there are others who aren't quite convinced that such a time consuming method can be called a "hack." In fact, it has even caused a lot of laughter. As
One comment on the network's Facebook page said:
"I can't stop chuckling. There are people in this world who need 24 hours to lay peanut butter atop a slice of bread..."
Another person's comment was perhaps a little more sarcastic:
"Love this...since having kids I had to quit my job due to the amount of time I needed to spread peanut butter each day...maybe now I can go back to work part-time!"
Regardless, there's no denying that this peanut butter video has been a big hit! Since it was posted, it has been watched more than 12 million times and shared over 52,000 times.
