Reporter Snoops Through Bush Twins Phones, Finds Funny Texts

Celebrities live in a different world when it comes to their smartphones. Most of them protect it like their lives depend on it, and in a way, it does - their entire reputation could be at stake! If a hacker managed to gain access to their phones, their inappropriate selfies would be splashed all over the gossip websites within hours.
No celebrity in their right mind would willingly hand over their phone to a reporter... Or, would they? Former first daughters Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager took a walk on the wild side when they bravely opened up their iPhones for all the world to see.
In a series of intimate messages between the fraternal twins and their "Popsicle" dad, we see that the 71-year-old former President George W. Bush in a whole new light. He's surprisingly very warm, humorous, and he really knows how to rock those fun emojis!
On his Vanity Fair web series, "Derek Does Stuff With a Friend," writer Derek Blasberg likes to pull pranks and have a good time with his celebrity pals. When Derek invited Barbara and Jenna to appear on his show, the first thing he did was play snatch and grab their phones! He wanted to know how the 35-year-old twins keep in touch with their family.
As Derek scrolled through the list of seemingly endless texts, he noticed a string of emoji-filled messages from someone known only as "Popsicle." That was their cute nickname for their Presidential pops! But, after Barbara mentioned that her dad texts her an inspirational meditation every morning, there is confused silence from her other half. Awww, it looks like Jenna doesn't get the same special treatment from Mr. Popsicle!
Believe it or not, George W. is quite the tech-savvy hipster, and frequently sends his daughters animated GIFs. Derek came across several messages filled with cute animations, including one with a baby rabbit that hopped around and said, "I love you."
Jenna doesn't know where or how her father learned to communicate with a language that's usually reserved for much younger millennials:
"He likes to communicate in a GIF - which is strange because I don't know where he gets them from."
After Derek came across a watercolor painting of the family dog, Freddy, he quickly found out that George W. is quite the "pet portraitist." Of course, Jenna was a bit irritated when she saw a portrait of Freddy on her sister's phone that she had never seen before. Yep, daddy definitely has a favorite daughter!
As Derek continued to scroll through all the personal messages between Barbara and her famous father, it finally dawned on him that he might be putting the sisters at odds with each other. Jenna jokingly demands:
"You haven't looked at my phone yet. Have you looked at my phone yet?"
Derek grabbed Jenna's phone, and then quickly scanned through a string of texts between the two siblings. In one series of texts, Barbara outed their mother for following a complete stranger on Instagram. The man, known only as Herme, had zero posts and only 14 followers, so one has to wonder what our former first lady, Laura Bush, was even thinking!
Yet, it's not just mom that needs help in this family. The best phone has been saved for last, and it's Jenna messages that has all the juicy tidbits! When Derek read an email from former first lady Barbara Bush regarding the "waxing story," he wanted to know more. And yes, it's exactly what you think the story is about! Ha ha! Oh boy, where did their granny learn to think like that?
You'll have to watch the video below to see why the Presidential afterlife isn't as mundane as it seems. The Bush family's texts, emails, and voicemail's reveal everything from bad wardrobe choices, to their dogs biting reporters, and creepy photobombs from the TODAY Show's Al Roker. Now, that's truly shareworthy!
