Shoppers Furious When 88 Year Old Walmart Greeter Is Fired

Without fail, Walmart greeters are always there to give us a great big smile and a friendly hello the moment we walk in the front door. Sure, sometimes we might ignore them if we're in a foul mood, but more often than not their cheerful disposition is just what we need to make our day a little bit brighter!
It doesn't take a lot of experience or know-how to be a Walmart greeter, so it's surprising when one of them actually gets fired for not doing their job. However, when locals found out that 88-year-old Bob Tallinger would no longer be there to say hello to them at the Walmart in Waukesha, Wisconsin, they were furious.
Wait until you hear the store's explanation for giving the senior the dreaded pink slip - it's quite a turkey!
Bob Tallinger is retired, but he enjoyed working at Walmart as one of their amazing greeters. Getting out of the house and interacting with the community was the highlight of his day, and being nice to people wasn't even a job for him - he was a total natural!
Bob's beaming personality and winning smile meant that he was the most popular person at the Waukesha store location. But, then one day a turkey showed up on the porch and ruined a good thing.
According to WISN, everyone was surprised that day when a wild turkey sauntered through the store's automatic doors - took one look around, and then walked back outside. To be fair to the turkey, it's probably something a lot of us have done at one time or another. But, most of us don't actually get people fired because of it!
The funny turkey incident became the squawk of the town, but people are now wondering why Bob was mysteriously let go from the company shortly afterwards. The retired senior certainly wasn't gobbling up the story that Walmart had cooked up!
Bob is a strict by the book kind of guy, and in his 8 years as a Walmart greeter, he was never told by management to inform them if a suspicious turkey was scouting their location, or that he was supposed to catch the feathered spy for questioning before it got away.
As an elderly man, Bob isn't as spry as he used to be, and even a fit 16-year-old would have a tough time catching a huge frolicking bird with his bare hands! In any case, Bob wasn't hired to be a bird catcher.
Bob's wife Janet is mad as a hatter over the whole thing, and told WISN:
"He was hired to be a greeter and that's what he did. He never saw a book of rules that said if a wild turkey comes in here you better run and get management. Granted he's gotten older and granted he's lost a little memory but nevertheless that hasn't prevented him from being an excellent greeter."
Sadly, the one thing that Bob will miss most about his job as a Walmart greeter is all the friendly people he's met over the years. What do you think - should Bob have been fired over this?
