There are varying reasons why people go out to eat oysters. Some simply love their exquisite and unique taste while others just want to get a feel of the experience. There are even those people who eat oysters for different health reasons.
For Rick from Edgewater, New Jersey, getting an oyster meal for lunch was simply to catch up and have a good conversation with a friend. Little did he know that his oyster plate that day would be something he'll remember for a very long time.
When he talked to the people in the restaurant, they were able to confirm that it wasn't a tooth or a broken piece of a utensil. Instead, what Rick found was a pearl that's likely to be worth thousands of dollars!
What happened that day was very rare. In fact, the chef in the restaurant has been working for over 28 years there and that was only the second time he had witnessed such a happening.
"That was the best oyster pan roast I ever ordered."
Although the pearl was confirmed to be expensive, Rick won't be selling it. He'll simply keep it for good luck and hopefully, his cat won't swipe it away. He believes that it'll bring him more good luck next year.
In the same interview, he said:
"The end of the year, you know, for next year, this is a sign."
Rick plans to eat more oysters now as he really loves them. Plus, he's hoping to challenge his luck and complete an entire set after his first pearl. After all, he found his first unexpectedly and with just pure luck maybe more will come his way.
It's really an amazing story about how surprising life can sometimes be.
