Being a parent is a tough job. It isn't just because of the sleepless nights and the long mornings when they're born up until they learn to walk; nor is it about the spills, the moods, and messes. Parenthood entails raising kids to be good members of society. You may be absolutely over the moon for your children, but you cannot turn a blind eye on any misbehavior and leave them to their actions either. Tough love makes up a chunk of parenting too. This may cause frustrations but it is, after all, a necessary aspect of child rearing.
In this story, two moms show us how it's done. It happened one evening at the premier of Cinderella when one mom reprimanded the disrespectful teenagers seated behind her in the theater. Normally, others would either let that type of behavior slide for the reason that they don't personally know the people involved, or they would call out the teens in a way that might cause the situation to escalate into something worse. One mom in particular knew how to reprove the teenage girls for the behavior they exhibited.
According to her, the teenagers continued to act up despite being admonished. She didn't think of it as something to just let slide. After all, it really does take a village to raise children. When certain behavior goes unnoticed, it conditions children to feel that they are entitled to doing what they feel like, no matter how inappropriate and disruptive. This is why the two moms show what it's like to show tough love and instill discipline regardless of place and time.
"Your actions affect other people around you. You never know what other people are going through."
Fortunately, the brother of the teenagers informed their mother of what happened when they went home from the theater. Their mother, in turn, was upset and immediately felt she had to reach out to the other mom. Because there was no other way of doing so, she took to Facebook and wrote a letter. Her post reached the other mom involved and they were able to get in touch with each other.
The incident formed a bond between the moms and the teens, proving that working together to set things right works wonders. Ignoring a situation may not always be the best way to solve it, and these two families learned how beneficial it can be to work together.
