Mom was pregnant at that time with twin babies and the twins were very, very active during that stage. It's a good thing their mom was lying down on her side because her babies are becoming a handful and they're still inside the womb! At one point, it seemed like one of the babies was pushing their way out of the belly. Or maybe the twins were playing inside and were a little too rambunctious?
It can be fun to watch babies but is it fun for the mom? Well, maybe fun is not the right word but movement from the babies are something the moms need to look out for always. According to Heather Rupe, DO on WebMD, by the time the babies reach 16 weeks, the moms should feel the early flutters of movement. Some may not feel it immediately so observe your baby's movements for the next 6 weeks. It may be small movements but moms should feel a little every day. In fact, the movements are so small, the moms think it's just gas.
By 28 weeks, babies should be moving an average number of at least six times per hour every day. That number may or may not occur every hour but there should be a movement happening regularly. If you notice the baby's lack of movement for more than an hour, the baby could be in distress. Some doctors suggest treating the lack of movement by yourself at first. They suggest moms drink fruit juice and lay down on their side to encourage movement. If nothing happens after an hour or two, that's the time to call a doctor.
Women who have never been pregnant wonder what it must be like to have babies kicking and moving around inside. But for most moms, the movements don't hurt. They describe the movements as nervous twitches, butterflies or even a tumbling motion. By the time they're in their third trimester, they're so used to the movements that it's become easier for them to distinguish between the baby's movements, gas, or hunger pangs.
Woman have described the feeling to be like bubbles or even popcorn popping. When the baby is stretching or rolling about it can feel like waves in the abdomen. However it is described, the feeling is amazing and each mother looks forward to it happening and treasures it throughout the pregnancy.
One thing is for sure when the baby (or babies) moves, it's a gentle (or may be not-so-gentle) reminder to moms that you are not alone. For most new moms when they feel those first kicks that's when the pregnancy begins to feel really real and the connection between mom and baby becomes so much stronger.
But for this mom, that feeling of twins moving around is something only others moms of twins can fully understand. By the looks of things, these precious little ones are ready to make their entrance into the world.
