Whenever you turn on the television or flip over the newspaper, you come across some news and be tempted to think, "Thank goodness that hasn't happened to me!" The truth is, you never know when an emergency could strike. A day can start out normal, but still end up turning when we least expect it.
This is exactly what happened to two young children one ordinary morning. Fortunately for them, a guardian angel in the form of veteran Chris Poe was there to save them before the unthinkable happened. Chris didn't think twice about rushing through the fire and smoke, risking his own life in the process.
You can call it destiny, a higher force, or whatever. But there are simply instances where we're "at the right place at the right time". It could have given way to something as simple as winning a prize at a local mall or maybe something as grand as saving someone else's life.
Chris Poe was definitely in the right place at the right time.
In what started out as a typical morning in Wyoming turned out to be a sudden fight for survival. Chris was out driving with his family when he spotted the burning house. He had no clue who lived there or if there was anyone around. But his instincts somehow kicked in. Without hesitation, Chris took matters to his own hands and rushed inside the home.
Turns out the children's father was buying them breakfast when the fire occurred. By the time he reached home, he was overcome with worry. Chris broke down the good news to him as he said that the two children were safe.
Ian Sandefer, the children's father is forever grateful for Chris's bravery. He didn't take time to think, he just acted on instinct and became a hero in the process.
