Very Happy Wolf
Very Happy Wolf

Sarah works with wolves at a sanctuary, and met a wolfdog named Lakomi. When Sarah first got to the sanctuary, she was told that Lakomi was crazy and could never be socialized. The wolfdog had to be placed in an enclosure with fences 14 feet high because she would often jump or climb up fencing that was only 12 feet high, and would then hang by her jaw at the top.
Since Sarah began working with Lakomi on socialization, that has all stopped. Her behavior has improved a lot with care. When Lakomi was originally found, she was 8 months old in the wild but it because clear that she had been bred and raised for a little while in captivity. When she was rescued, the wolfdog was wearing a harness meant for an 8-week-old. It took hours of surgery to remove it, since her skin had grown over it. The infection nearly took her life but after months of medication she overcame it.
Now it's apparent how much Lakomi has improved. After Sarah worked with her for about 2 months, she became sweet and loving and playful, all of which can be seen here. What a wonderful example of the power of love and caring.
