Mom Encourages Kids To Clean Room In A Controversial Way

Most parents know the struggles of trying to get their children to clean their rooms. However, not everyone goes to as extreme of measures as Alice Velasquez did - who was determined to teach her kids a lesson they all would never forget.
Liliana and Tahlia are sisters; Ethan and Korbin are their brothers. Most busy teenagers end up with messy rooms, but Alice grew weary of walking by her daughters' messy, cluttered bedrooms.
So instead of cleaning up after her kids this time, she took a stand, one that has the world abuzz with what she did. Alice posted this shocking picture and caption on Facebook:
"What do you do when you are DONE telling your teenage daughters to stop letting their room look like homeless people live there? You put everything (YES EVERYTHING) into plastic bags and you sell it back to them for $25 a bag (and they have to earn the money doing chores)."
So Alice picked everything up--dirty clothes, clean clothes, soccer cleats, hair brushes--you name it. She grabbed everything as it was, no sorting, and piled her daughters' belongings into garbage bags. She piled them up in the corner of the room and broke the news to her daughters.
If they wanted their belongings back, they'd have to do chores to earn money to buy them back at $25 per bag. Her daughters also would have no idea what is in each bag they bought, making it an interesting ordeal, Alice said.
"The best part? The bags were collected as they were found in the room- random! So their $25 could buy a bag of dirty clothes, it could buy a bag of trash or it could buy their soccer gear. #MayTheOddsBeEverInYourFavor"
Her younger son volunteered to do chores and earn money to help his sisters buy their bags of belongings back. Mom Alice said the siblings ended up helping their sisters with chores to buy the bags back. One daughter had a soccer game that weekend and her soccer cleats and shin guards were somewhere in those bags.
Alice's unusual approach to cutting the clutter drew a lot of support, but also some criticism. She appeared on the television show The Doctors to talk about what happened. The audience applauded her method and the specialists on the show said her choice wasn't harmful.

Some parents agree with Alice Velasquez bizarre punishment, while others are calling it just plain child abuse. One person even threatened to call child services on her. What do you think about the situation?
