Powerball Winner Surprised When Pastor Knocks On Door

The odds of winning the Powerball are 1 in 292,201,338, and in 2015, Marie Holmes was that one, when her lottery ticket made her $188 million richer. The 27-year old, single mother of four from Shallotte, North Carolina knew this was the moment when her life would transform forever!
It all started off pretty smoothly when Marie decided that part of her winnings should be spent on a new family home. After spending $350,000 for her dream home in the best neighborhood Shallotte had to offer, Marie also put some of her winnings towards charitable organizations.
Marie put a sizable $9.7 million in the Marie Holmes Foundation hoping to help the community organizations where she lived. She also decided to give over $680,000 to her home church, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where according to Marie's aunt, five generations of her family had attended service.
Few people can argue with Marie's generous contributions, but surprisingly the one to say that she hasn't done enough is her pastor Kevin Matthews. In fact, now he is doing more than just talking.
Sources claim that pastor Kevin came knocking on her new home door after finding out that she had won the big bucks. He reportedly provided his ministering services on several occasions before asking Marie for a rather large donation.
At first Marie seemed to have entertained his request and even had her accountant talk to him. But eventually her aunt Carnel Wheaton, as the executive director of the Marie Holmes Foundation, decided that the foundation's money was better spent elsewhere.
To Marie, and lot of other people's surprise, Pastor Kevin is officially suing Marie for $10 million for backing out on an apparent verbal contract which promised him $1.5 million to purchase a track of land for a future retreat center for the church.
So how does one go from asking for $1.5 million and then suing for more than six times that much? Well, pastor Kevin is claiming that all this back and forth with Marie has caused him depression and a lot of anxiety. This emotional distress has made him dependent on medicine and apparently he feels that is enough grounds for the $10 million.
Whether or not you believe what pastor Kevin is doing is right or wrong, we should add that Marie hasn't been as cautious about spending her money as this story so far might suggest.
Apparently, outside of her charitable givings, Marie has reportedly spent about $21 million in bailing out his 31-year-old boyfriend Lamarr McDow three times on various drug related charges. Her other generous gifts to Lamarr also include a $15,000 gold and diamond Rolex watch and a pick-up truck.
It may be true, more money brings in all sorts of crazy problems. According to pastor Kevin:
"The bottom line...I just want her to do what she said she was going to do. I want peace and to do what God told me to do. I want her to do what she said she was going to do. I really feel like a warrior for Christ and people need to be accountable."
There is no further news of the legal battle and its verdict at this point, but it's safe to say that most people have a pretty strong opinion about the bizarre situation.
