As the saying goes, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", but when can that be taken too far? Lisa was about to find that out when the company she worked for unexpectedly went under and the bubble finally burst, sending her boss and his company into nonexistence. She waited for someone to come knocking, telling her she needed to leave or pay up!
Well, year after year, no one ever came knocking... Not for 9 years. It took someone 9 years to figure out that the home existed and that Lisa was living there rent-free.
For Lisa, the silver lining of the real estate crash meant that the bank and the city were too pre-consumed with excess inventory on the market. It took years before anyone realized just what was happening with this quaint house.
In those 9 years, Lisa raised her family there, and also made improvements to keep the house in good order, all without paying a dime in rent.
When the city realized its mistake and put the house on the market for sale, a company in Singapore snagged it at a great price. For Lisa, after all these years, it seemed like it was finally the end of the road in that house.
Luck was not quite ready to leave Lisa's side however.
